This week

Tuesday night Adriel and Miriam were cooing at each other and he made her laugh for the first time. It is fun to see her learn how to respond to us. Abigail has had a great week due to large amounts of protein for breakfast. Now the question is how to get David to do the same when he doesn't like eggs, sausage or peanut butter. Any ideas ? We all still have colds but it looks like the big kids are nearly over it. That gives the rest of us hope.

Cousin Time

For the past two weeks My sister and her family have been visiting from down South. What fun it was to have them here! David and Abigail had a wonderful time playing with their cousins who are almost 6 and 2.5 years old. It was really tough for everyone to say goodbye yesterday. While they wee here a minor miracle occurred. We decided to take a huge family picture. 13 people from the ages of 73 years to 5 weeks old.... I think the photographer was a little afraid. "Five WEEKS?" she asked, but we actually got a good picture with everyone smiling and Miriam's eyes open. What an adventure that was!

Tubby Time

Here are some pictures from Miriam's first Tub bath. She seemed to like it better than her sponge baths. I think the water kept her warm this way and she really doesn't like being cold.

Abigail was a great helper on Miriam's first adventure into the tub. She ran for extra towels and even the camera when Mommy needed it. What a sweet big sister!

Miriam didn't mind this bath to much but she was glad to be cuddled up in the towels. Once a diaper and jammies were on all was well again for Miriam. She fell asleep directly after getting dressed. After all, having a bath is a big adventure!

Back to School

Today Miriam is four weeks old. We are starting to get a bit of a sleeping routine down, although I am very much looking forward to her sleeping through the night a couple of months from now. I seem to be getting about 3.5 hours of sleep and then another 2 after a feeding in the early morning hours. I now know that those late night shows (after Leno and Letterman) are replayed between 2 and 3am along with infomercials and a lot commercials for sleep medication!

This week David and I started back to school. I have set things up so he can do a good deal of it without much help from me. We are learning to jump at those opportunities when Miriam is sleeping to get in the rest of our teaching time. I am also learning to bounce a baby and show Abigail how to write a letter or number at the same time. This week Abbie decided she wanted to learn to draw stars. She has taken a break from the letters and numbers to work on this. She continues to be mostly interested in learning to write and do simple math. We will try to get some new pictures up soon. All of the kids are growing so fast and we can see a big difference in Miriam these last few weeks.

Sleeping

When Miriam does sleep (see last post) life is pretty darn sweet.

Cat's in the cradle!

We are all suffering from a little bit of baby jealousy around here, apparently including Kodak the cat whom Christina found in the cradle this morning - luckily the normal tenant was out sleeping elsewhere.

Speaking of Miss Miriam, she has decided that she will only sleep upright and not so much at night, in fact not so much at all. Just cat naps here and there. We all seem to have colds right now which is making life a little bit of a downer and the lack of sleep isn't helping much. We'll get through it all soon enough.

So, it's that time of the month - bills! This month has been a little crazy, so everything has just sat in the in-box, thought you might get a kick out of what it looks like. Any volunteers to come help? :)
